The Bodrum Cup is one of the world's few regattas where yachts can race with guests onboard. The city comes alive as captains and sailors from across the world gather for this once-a-year event.
The ERA Bodrum Sailing Club organizes the Bodrum Cup, an annual yacht regatta, with the primary goal of encouraging interest and skill in sailing among the captains and crews of Bodrum's charter fleet. It's an archaeological voyage on a traditional Turkish gulet.
This event has taken place in Bodrum on the third week of October every year since 1989, bringing together normally solitary cruising yachts to celebrate the end of the year's cruising season in friendly competition. This year, the event will take place from 18 - 23 October along the exquisite sailing route of Bodrum - Çökertme - Kissebükü - Bodrum.
Competing yachts must be of traditional wooden construction, with non-wooden yachts permitted to participate in a non-competitive capacity. The goal is to promote gulets and improve the technology used to make them more suitable for sailing.

A 29-metre, four-cabin yacht with two master cabins, one VIP cabin, and two guest cabins, all air-conditioned and equipped with LCD TVs, as well as a marine satellite TV and home theater system. The charter fee is 20,000 EUR.
At the end of each day, many privately owned yachts, Turkish or foreign flagged, are welcome to compete. As is the nature of sailors, all the yachts anchor together to have fun and trade "tall stories." The Bodrum Cup is recognised as an international yacht festival, and the magnificent vista of a horizon filled with the sails of the majestic wooden yacht fleet is breath-taking.
