Kaptan Yilmaz II is a vessel of rare character — a traditional Turkish gulet that has been thoughtfully transformed into one of the most distinguished charter boats of its kind operating in Italian waters. Measuring 26 metres in length with an exceptionally generous beam of 7 metres, she carries the unmistakable silhouette of the great cargo sailing ships that once plied the Eastern Mediterranean, yet every detail of her construction was conceived for the highest standards of passenger comfort. Her hull is crafted from a combination of mahogany and iroko — two of the finest hardwoods in maritime boatbuilding — lending her interiors and exterior joinery a warmth and patina that no modern composite can replicate.
Displacing 78 tonnes and drawing 2.90 metres, Kaptan Yilmaz is built for purposeful, stable passage-making. Twin 280 HP IVECO AIFO diesel engines provide reliable propulsion, delivering a comfortable cruising speed of 7 knots and a maximum of 12 knots when required. A bow thruster adds manoeuvrability in port, while two genoa headsails and a mainsail (randa) allow her to sail in favourable conditions, reducing engine hours and connecting guests to the vessel's deep sailing heritage.
Her story in Italian waters began in December 2009, when Commander Fabrizio Delia — a Messina-born mariner with over 30,500 nautical miles of experience and qualifications ranging from a 200GT Master Certificate to IMO-recognised Yacht Master status — identified her as the ideal successor to his first gulet. Following careful modernisation works, Kaptan Yilmaz emerged with a character that blends her Turkish origins with unmistakably Sicilian warmth and hospitality — a fusion that defines the Marvero Crociere experience.
Safety and navigation technology aboard is comprehensive and rigorously maintained. The electronics suite includes autopilot, GPS, HF and VHF DSC radio, RADAR, AIS, and a FLIR thermal camera system. Two self-inflating life rafts and an EPIRB unit — permanently connected via satellite to the relevant port authorities — provide the highest level of maritime safety assurance. Two 18 kW generators, a 3 kW inverter, and a 1 kW solar installation ensure consistent onboard power, while twin watermakers producing 240 litres per hour each, combined with 5,000-litre fresh water tanks, guarantee complete independence at anchor.
The result is a vessel that commands respect on the water while offering effortless relaxation aboard — a 26-metre gulet that feels every one of her metres in the breadth of her decks, the richness of her timbers, and the depth of her Sicilian soul.
The Onboard Experience
Where Sicily Meets the Open Sea
Every day on board is a sensory journey through sun, salt air, and the finest flavours of the Mediterranean.
Life aboard Kaptan Yilmaz is anchored in a deeply Sicilian sense of hospitality — generous, unhurried, and deeply connected to the pleasures of the table and the sea. The onboard kitchen, under the care of Chef Marco, is widely regarded as the centrepiece of the cruising experience. Drawing on a culinary lineage rooted in the traditions of Messina and the broader Sicilian mainland, Marco selects the finest local produce at every port of call, crafting dishes that honour the authentic flavours of his region. From freshly caught fish prepared in the Messinese tradition to vegetarian, vegan, and intolerance-adapted menus, the galley responds to every guest's needs with the same passion and precision one might expect of a celebrated shoreside restaurant.
Above decks, the gulet's broad 7-metre beam creates generous open-air living spaces both fore and aft — ideal for alfresco dining, sunbathing, or simply watching the volcanic silhouettes of the Aeolian Islands drift past in the golden afternoon light. Air conditioning is installed throughout all eight guest cabins, ensuring cool and restful nights even in the height of the Sicilian summer, and additional fans provide supplementary ventilation across shared spaces. For water enthusiasts, Kaptan Yilmaz carries a BWA 5.10 metre tender equipped with a 40/60 HP engine for island transfers and water sports towing, two paddleboards, a canoe, water skis, a wakeboard, and a ring float (ciambella) — everything needed for a full day of aquatic adventure in the crystalline waters of the Aeolian archipelago or the Egadi Islands. The vessel accommodates up to 16 guests and four crew across ample deck and saloon spaces, and her multilingual crew — fluent in Italian, English, French, Romanian, and Korean — ensures that guests of every nationality feel immediately at home.
Guest Accommodation
Eight Cabins, One Unforgettable Voyage
Private sanctuaries finished in precious wood, where the rhythm of the sea becomes your lullaby.
Kaptan Yilmaz offers eight beautifully appointed guest cabins, each with its own private en-suite bathroom — an arrangement that guarantees complete privacy and comfort whether the vessel is chartered exclusively by a group of family or friends, or sailing on a cabin-charter basis where individual travellers share the communal spaces of this magnificent gulet. All cabins are finished in the vessel's signature precious hardwoods — the same mahogany and iroko that define her hull and deck joinery — creating a warm, intimate atmosphere that is simultaneously timeless and deeply comfortable.
Every cabin is fully air-conditioned, ensuring a cool and restful environment even on the warmest Sicilian nights, and each is complemented by its own private bathroom. The cabin configuration includes double and matrimonial berth options as well as triple-berth arrangements, making Kaptan Yilmaz equally well-suited to couples, families with children, and groups of friends travelling together. The crew of four — accommodated in their own two separate crew cabins with private facilities — ensures that guest spaces remain entirely private throughout the charter, with attentive service available at all hours without intrusion.

La Dolce Vita, On Water
Kaptan Yilmaz sails the storied waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea from her home port of Lipari, offering three distinct cruising programmes across the jewels of southern Italy. The classic Aeolian Islands itinerary traces the extraordinary volcanic archipelago in its entirety — from the sulphurous fumaroles of Vulcano and the black obsidian beaches of Lipari, to the dramatic Stromboli with its nightly eruptions painting the sky above the midnight sea. Each anchorage reveals a different facet of these UNESCO-listed islands: the emerald coves of Panarea, the wind-carved rock of Filicudi, and the remote wildness of Alicudi, the furthest and least visited of the seven.
For returning guests who wish to explore beyond the archipelago, the Aeolian Islands and Sicilian Coast itinerary extends the cruising ground along the magnificent Tyrrhenian coastline, passing through Filicudi and Alicudi before rounding towards the medieval splendour of Cefalù — one of Sicily's most captivating historic towns, with its great Norman cathedral rising directly from the cliff face above the harbour. A third programme ventures west to the Egadi Islands, a more demanding passage that rewards the adventurous with some of the most pristine and transparent water in the entire Mediterranean — the waters of Favignana, Levanzo, and Marettimo, where Phoenician and Roman history is woven into every promontory. Aboard Kaptan Yilmaz, each of these journeys is elevated by the gulet's Sicilian crew and the extraordinary cooking of Chef Marco, ensuring that the flavours of the island are as vivid a memory as the seascapes themselves.
